My parents from Florida purchased (paid in full delivery fee) a dining room set from Island Dinette on January 19 (as a gift to me). I was told by the salesperson, Larry, that this set was in stock and would take 6-8 weeks for delivery & they will call me when it is ready for delivery. I kept calling the company warehouse (in Farmingdale) and the only time they called me was to return my inquiry on the status of the delivery. These people are liars & thieves.

Chain of Events:

01/19/02 - ordered and paid in full (incl delivery) dining room set Invoice #P-5312 (solid oak pedestal expandable table and 6 embroided oak chairs).

03/18/02 - called & spoke to Nadia... She will call back.

03/19/02 - Nadia called & left message... Set not in, will call when it is in the warehouse.

04/10/02 - called Nadia from Florida, said she will call back and never did.

04/11/02 - My Dad called from Florida & spoke to Rudy. Rudy said the set will be in on 04/26/02 & they will call me to set up a delivery date, and for the inconvenience, they will refund my parent's credit card $60.00.

04/29/02 - No Calls as of yet. I called the warehouse and spoke to Andre' who claimed he "had no authority but would throw in an extra chair at no charge". Andre' stated the furniture would be in the first week of May and they would call me. He also stated that if I wanted a refund, they would give it to me without a problem.

05/06/02 - I called and spoke to Nadia. No dining set yet, they will call me.

05/13/02 - I called again and spoke to Rudy. He put me on hold "to call N. Carolina - where they get the furniture". He reported to me that the set arrived in N. Carolina and it will be shipped to Long Island, NY on

5/16/02, and it will take 3 days to get here... They will call me on 05/21/02 to set up a delivery date.

05/21/02 - No Call. I called and spoke to Rudy @1pm. He said he would call me right back. I called again @ 4pm and spoke to Nadia. She said the set will not be in for another 2 weeks. I theatened to call the credit card co. Rudy got on the phone and said "i don't stress out over shipping problems, it will be in on 05/28/02". He set up a delivery date for June 1 and promised I would get my furniture on that date and will call me when the set gets in.

05/30/02 - No Call. Called & spoke with Nadia who stated "the set will take another week". I lost it and told her I want my parent's credit card refunded immediately. She said she will leave a note for Rudy and he will call me tomorrow.

05/31/02 - No Call.

06/06/02 - My parents called from Florida 5 times and were told by Sheila that Rudy would call them back on this day... No callback.

06/07/02 - I called the warehouse 3 times and spose with Sheila, who claimed that Rudy was in meetings all day. Finally I spoke with John @ 4pm, who said Rudy was not in. I got angry and threatened to take legal action against them... John admitted that Rudy was there. I said i wanted the credit card refunded now or i will go to the store and cause trouble. I was told it would take 5-8 weeks to get a refund. I hung up.

06/09/02 - I went to the store in Patchogue where I purchased the dining set and spoke with Larry (the original salesman). I refused to leave the store until I got the credit. Larry called Andre' (who I found out is the OWNER) and after 4 calls and me threatening to speak to the customers, I got in writing that I will receive a refund by Tuesday, June 11 (verbally on the phone with Andre' and on paper with Larry) - Larry was very hesitant on putting it in writing and did a poor job at it anyway.

06/13/02 - Still no refund.

So, here we are 6 months later; they made their $2000.00 plus 6 months interest on my folk's $, Larry got his commission, and I got NOTHING, including no refund.

These employees I have dealt with are all liars and thieves. They all promised specific delivery dates and then lied about it. They also promised to call me or my folks back and only did 2-3 times by leaving lame messges on the answering machine. One employee, John, admitted that the manager was in after he and Sheila lied to me that he was in meetings and then gone for the day. The owner even lied about not having authority to do anything for me, leaving me to believe he was just an employee. I don't know how this store stays in business, but they suck!!!
