Well, I was leaving a grocery store when two guys approached me in an SUV claiming they had these extra speakers that they had over ordered or something. So I listened to their little thing and decided that it was probably a good deal. They showed me the invoice and the catalog and everything, so it looked legit enough I suppose. However, I had heard something about this being a scam, and decided to um. Be bad.
I listened and said "sure I'll take them, how much?" They said they wanted at least half (well ovebr 700 dollars) I laughed at them and said "I'm just a college kid, whatever man" so they said "well whatever you can spare" to which I explained. Um. I can't spare anything, I'm in college... Hehe
After some persuasion, I said "look, I have a checking accounting, if I write you a check will that do? I'll give you 350 for the pair... On check and 50 cash. They didn't like that idea at first, but I was like take it or leave it... So they decided to take it (wow are these guys dumb?)
So I wrote them a check and got 50 and gave it to them... It was after 5, so they couldn't cash it immediately... Which is good.
The next morning I put a stop payment on the check, thus killing the thing, since it is a scam... I guess that's ok... Because they can't track me down or anything. So I basically scammed the scammers.
The speakers themselves are easily worth the 50 I spent on them... in fact they work rather nice, and are quite nice looking for a shabby little college guy like me... So um. If you meet these guys, exploit their stupidity. That's what I say:)
