Career Ed / McIntosh College Bad Business Practices, High Turnover, Unqualified People

I feel sorry for students who go to school here. I am disappointed to have to have been associated with them and for the really good students who go there who deserve better.

The education and instruction is very good overall and most of the teachers do care adn do a good job. It really sucks for the students trying to get and education. Some of the students have real issues that take away from the other students. There are people who attend who have had serious felonies or misdameanors. We use a script to make it seem like it is all exclusive, but as long as you can get an app fee you can come since it's open enrollment. Most of the credits do not transfer but we are told to avoid this question by saying it depends on the school. We charge $26000 for an Med Assisting Degree when students come out making only $9 to $14 an hour.

As for how we do business, it's terrible. You are a sales rep "selling the dream" and you are trying to get "procastinators" sign up. Everything is scripted and you try to make the student special by coming here. Most of the admissions teams have no pervious college education and some are really bright who would be better off elsewhere. We have phone a thons where we just call the same people on the same list constantly. Most people get contacted 3 times a day or up to 7 to 10 times by phone. It's harrassment. Everyhting is all numbers and their charts and stats to monitor your progress. If you enroll enough students they reward you with a trip to Hawaii, Paris, or Orlando etc. The call it a conference so they do not get in trouble for rewarding reps. Turnover is crazy. Usually people leave because of stress, or because they do care about people and don't want to use them.

We try to get people to start school regardless and sometimes they have terrible credit. So they end up with 14% interest rates on a student loan. To live in the dorms cost more than getting a 2 bedroom apt in town with all utilities included.

If you don't have a tough skin or care about people don't go there. They do have good programs but you will have to judge for yourself if it's worth it.
