I am writing to inform you of improper business practices of the Notter School of Pastry Arts in Orlando, FL. I am a former employee. Please see below:
*The college has moved locations has not properly updated information to ACCET.
* The college does not have a restroom in the school that is operational for students that are participating in hands on cooking classes.
* The college does not pay their employees that have resigned on or before their last day of employment.in some cases have waited 6 day-2 months to pay former employees.
*The college allows students to enroll with no proof of HS diploma or GED
*The college has students that are in default that believe they will receive Financial Aid through the government.
* The college does not lock student enrollment folders. They are out in plain site at all times.
*The college does not have an up to date business license.
* The college does not keep students grades in a system.
*The college does not provide Transcripts or Diplomas
*The college has taken the money from international students that are awaiting I-20's however the school is not authorized to give I-20s
* The college does not provide students with catalogs
* The college does not provide employees with handbooks
* The college does not provide employees with check stubs. They provide handwritten checks.
* The college wrote in offer letters that insurance was given after 90 days however it never occurred.
* The students have not all met the admissions requirements and their enrollment files are not complete.
* The financial aid director works in Financial Aid and Admissions enrolling students.
* The college has enrolled students that do not speak English and the students were not able to comprehend everything that was being taught.
* The school does not have college transcripts on file for all staff and faculty.
*The school promises career placement assistance but has never had a career services professional.
* The students attend lead generating events and at promised gift cards for $25 for obtaining a certain number of leads and are promised classes for $800 or more.
Many students and employees are being hurt by the business practices of Beverly Karshner the owner of the school. I believe that ACCET would not want their name represented in this manner.
