Deceptive unethical Corporation ex-employee tells how they con prospective students into enrolling into programs

As a previous employee of a couple of Career Educations schools, I have seen and heard how they con prospective students into enrolling into programs. Career Education Corporation (CEC) is deceptive, liars, cheats, take what money they can and they don't process Financial Aid in a timely manner. This is why AIU is AGAIN on probation. Yes, there are graduates of AIU or other CEC owned schools that are pleased with the education they received or are receiving. It is the unhappy students that out way the happy ones.

President and CEO Jack Larson is a money hungry thief who lives off of the Department of Education and student's money to put as much cash in his pocket as he can. Their Admission reps are taught how to SELL, SELL, SELL to make their numbers every month. They have been told the more students they enroll the more money the company makes. If they do not make their numbers they threaten them with their jobs.

One Admission Representative was told by the Admissions Director, when she was not making her enrollment numbers, "Do you think it is fair for CEC to give you a paycheck if you can't allow them to make their money? Do what you have to get get students to enroll." This is a rep that was only 3 students away from her required numbers that month and still had two weeks left until the next classes started. The Admission Representatives are told not to tell prospective students everything they need to know, especially about Financial Aid. "Do what you have to get to enroll." To be exact "Don't worry about the cost everything is covered by the Federal Government." So the student enrolls and meets with Financial Aid and that is when they are shocked that they actually have to take out student loans and pay them back afterwards.

They enroll students knowing they are in default on previous student loans, can't afford it or do not qualify based on admissions requirements. But they have them sit in class until after the drop period just so they have their numbers. If the student drops after the drop period that does not go against Admissions, it reflects negatively towards the Education department. ALL CEC schools fudge their enrollment numbers so which ever school or Admission Rep. Has the highest enrollment for the year gets to go on a weeks "Company Conference" to Hawaii or somewhere expensive. Company Conference my ass.

CEC is also known to do what they can to process a students Financial Aid. Even if that means forging documents, having the student lie about their income, how many people in their household, and if they have had a drug conviction within the last year, telling the student to say no to that specific question on the FAFSA.

I feel sorry for all students who enroll at any CEC school. If you are thinking about a CEC school... DO NOT ENROLL!!! If you do, ask questions, read all documents carefully, get everything in writing, and make sure all your required Admissions paperwork and Financial Aid is complete and ready to go prior to starting. Do not take anyone's word that "don't worry about it, you will be ok".

I have known and worked with individuals that graduated from AIU and they also do not have anything good to say about AIU and CEC. Working for CEC was the most stressful and disappointing time in my life. Thank goodness they are on probation again and to the Accrediting agency, SACS, do not take AIU off probation... Take away their Accreditation.
