GC service started harrasing me with phone calls about a defaulted student loan (which i was unaware of since all my student loans are consolated and on deferment this whole time). I didn't get the information i needed to figure out what loan they were talking about till the 7th harrassing, rude, hotile call. Once i realized i did indeed owe this minor amount due to having to leave school mid semester due to having a baby. I accepted to resposibilty for the amount but in my attempt to pay small amounts until i got my tax return (in which i planned to use to pay off total bill in Feb) i made the arrangements to pay 45 a month till Feb. Now - i originally set it up to be a direct withdrawl from my account - since they insisted i mail priority which costs me more. They preceded to debit my account on unauthorized dates and more than once a month.in Aug they debited my account every week which caused my account to be overdrawn and myself left with all the bank charges and vairous other vendor charges. They also continued to call my home as if no arrangements had been made. I went over this with many different people at GC services and received the same hostile, rude treatment even though i made arrangements. It didn't really stop until i said to them i am going to cease my payment arrangements with them for the harrassment and i gave them a lawyer to contact to resolve the case. Of course i had no lawyer (could afford one) at the time - but the calls did decrease.
Now at the time Feb came around and i called them to settle the debt in full - I HAD TO CALL 3 TIMES TO PAY IN FULL! Each time i was told they would fax the info over to me and they did not. Finally when i got it 2 weeks later - they had charge me interst since the first request till the final response. You can imagine where i told them to stuff that interest. I recommend to anyone encountering this company that you demand everything in writting and NEVER allow them access to your account. The fact the Department of Education has chosen this company to do its dirty work - is a bad move on there part and i feel should also be held accountable for the for all the above.
