June I received a phone call from CCA regarding a student loan from 23 yrs ago, in 1985, which was in default. They told me at that time that if I made an agreement with them to make arrangements to pay $500.00 as a down payment, then they would make payment arrangements with me for $100.00 a month until $1200.00 was paid off, and then my credit would be in good standing and I wouldnt owe them anything. And my credit would restored to good standing and all credit bureaus would be informed that I was paid in full.
So they asked me by the end of the month if I could pay them $250.00 and then the following month I could pay them another $250.00 to cover the $500.00 down payment to get this student loan rehabilitation program started, and I told them I could not guarantee $250.00 but I could guarantee $200.00, and at that time that was acceptable.
Well then after I had given them my bank information I paid them $200.00 as I had promised and they told me that I made a committment to pay $250.00 which was not what I had promised, and they then told me that they never said that they never said that the loan would be settled after all of the payment arrangements made and that it would only take it out of default. I told them that they knew if they had expressed it to me as that that I wouldnt had even probably agreed with it.
The following month I received a statement for $100.00 from them, and I sent the $100.00 payment to them, a week later they went into my account to take $250.00 out for the payment for that month and that messed up my account and their check didnt clear but I was charged $34.00 for an NSF fee along with other NSF fees that would not had applied if they werent tryoing to help themselves to my money, because I figured that I paid the statement for that month.
So I talked to a supervisor for CCA and he then told me because I had made a voluntary payment of the $100.00 for that month that the following month which would had been the month of August they would submit the check again for the $250.00 and then I wouldnt have to pay until the month of Sept, $100.00 the other day I received a form requesting 3 personal references and my employers information, and I called them and told them that I didnt understand what they needed any other information from me for since they have been getting their money and they told me that they were not going to have this loan after it was out of default status, and the next lender that ends up with this loan needed the information, which I am not comfortable submitting to them and I refuse to, and yesterday I came home from work and I have another payment statement with a due dat of Sept. 28, with a payment due of $200.00, when our agreement was $100.00 a month so they constantly contradict themselves and have been for the 3 months that I have been dealing with them.
I tried to get my payments down to $50.00 a month sincew I am a painter by trade and they told me that was impossible and that just wasnt enough money per month. I told them that was $50.00 a month more than they have been getting for the last 23 yrs.in the 23 yrs I have had this student loan, there has been no documentation on any payments made prior to June of this year in which prior to that there was 2 different banks contact me and make arrangements for payment on this loan, and the loan keeps getting sold to other banks and other institutions, I have had a lawyer put a lien on my taxes on this matter, which nobody has had any documentation to speak of regarding this loan. But I am thoroughly convinced that CCA of Norwell Ma. Is deceptive liars and thieves and question whether or not they are part of a student loan scandals as far as their attitude towards the people they are trying to collect from. They are always disrespectful and belittling and rude. And should not be in business dealing with the public.
