I am stuck with a laptop that doesn't work. I bought this computer Christmas 2010. It came with a one year warranty. From the get go there was a problem with this laptop. For no reason, it will shut off without warning - just blink off. Its not overheating or from a certain program. Its like a short in the wiring or something. Like you removed the battery. (however it would do it even if I wasn't touching the laptop so it wasn't from "jostling"). So after a few months I call customer support and have the laptop sent in. They change the fan even though I know enough about computers that this isn't a heat issue. So I get the computer back and it still does it.
Over the next year I send in the computer 3 or 4 times, going through the entire troubleshooting process with Customer service, wasting hours of my time (and HP 's). Finally my warranty is running out. I tell them I want a new computer - none of these fixes are working and this laptop is just a lemon. They insist they will extend my warranty 90 days and want one more try to fix the computer. Sigh. So I send it in December or so. I get it back and it has completely new software and seems to be running ok. I don't really use the laptop too much over the next few months. Well sure enough, in April it blinks out again - and continues to blink out all the time. I call customer service again and they say "sorry, out of warranty" but you can pay for us to fix it." So basically they have washed their hands of it.
I would like HP to replace this faulty laptop. The fact is I have never had a working laptop, warranty or no. They kept begging it off until my warranty ran out and now I am stuck with this thing, which I can't even in good conscience sell, given I know its faulty.
P.S. I should mention that the laptop blinked off twice while writing this review. I have learned to save in notepad lest I lose all my work constantly. So infuriating!
