I have had First American Home Buyers Protection for seven years. I had always been pleased until this year. I have been having problems with my air conditioning system and that is when their service stopped. Two months ago my system quit working. They sent out a company who proceeded to try and rip me off.
The tech told me that my repair was to cost me $1000. Well I called the company back and told them. After I told the teck I called the company I heard him calling his company outside and he told them that he could not charge me this because I had called back the warranty company and he had to be careful.
Well after I called he told me it would cost $400 and he told me he did the work. Well I called first American again after I wrote the fellow a check and learned that it was supposed to cost only $150. This is the kind of fly by night rip off repair people that come out to your house. These techs usually will drive up in dirty old pickups that do not even have a company name on them. Also these guys will never have a uniform and I really don't think they know what they are doing.
Now two months later the work this man was supposed to have done on the AC coil is messing up again. I have a very bad heart condition and have now been without air conditioning for 5 days in Houston Texas. It has been over 100 degrees every day and is over 90 degrees in my house. I keep leaving messages on the supervisor's voice mail and she will not call me back. I am in much danger and First American does not even care.
Me and my three children have had to go to a hotel for the last five days because it is very dangerous for me. Also I have had to wait at my house for service men that are not repairing my system. The AC man they sent out to my house told me that it was a plumbing problem. Then they sent out the plumber who told me it was an AC problem. The company knows that the real problem is costly and don't want to fix it. This company is causing me a danger to my health and when it comes to this it becomes personal. They do not seem to care and at this moment I am still sitting here waiting for a repair man in a 90 degree house. Is this how this company does business?
