First American Home Buyers Protection = Shady Good for nothing thieves, no A/C 90 degree heat

A lousy good for nothing company run by idiots; and I am an idiot for dealing with them.

I've been religiously paying them premiums for nearly 10 years and after 10 years of studiously collecting my payments, this is how my 1st and only major claim is handled.

I'm on my 3rd service call for A/C repair in less than 3 months; the first call was in 100 degree weather they couldn't find a contractor, so l had to locate one, they made me pay $250 out of pocket and then I had to wait over 3 months for the reimbursement check which I am sure I still wouldn't have had I not called them ceaselessly, taking names and direct phone numbers of each and every idiot I spoke with and badgering them into the refund.

The initial repair they authorized was just a mini fix on an 18 y/o system which broke down again 2 weeks later; the first contractor told me I needed a new system

I hired a contractor on my own to get it up and running at an out of pocket cost of another $100; this different contractor again told me I needed a new system, so back to 1st American again

They sent out contractor #3, another competent air conditioning repair service who called them and told them that I needed a new system; 1st American refused coverage and instead authorized another piece meal repair... Cost 1st American $1000 though (does my heart good!)

The $1000 dollar repair lasted a full 2 weeks...

Meanwhile 3 months later I got my reimbursement check for my out of pocket funds...

Once again, this morning they sent out their contractor, my house is now over 100 degrees indoors, all the coils are frozen and all the freon leaked out of the system...

The contractor fought with them trying to explain to the idiot approval dept that a new system is needed... Nope... Wouldn't approve it... Only approving replacement of indoor coils...

I happen to know there is also a leak in the outdoor coils (it's a split system)...

Fortunately this contractor is new with 1st American and is an honest local businessman who is coming out on his own tonight to put some freon in to get me through the night...

He will be going to battle with those idiots again tomorrow

So far they have piece mealed a system for $250, then $1000 and now $900 for coils... And still they won't relent and replace the system...

Oh, and the offered to "cash me out" and send me a check for $900 (see above re: their policy on sending refund checks)... Of course I refused.

So, I plan on calling them every 28 days (same issue doesn't incur another service fee if it has been less than 30 days since the repair) until every last little piece of this system is replaced and I have my new system bit by bit (there are only about 2 or 3 somewhat minor pieces left to have a completely rebuilt system)... Which will cost them more in the long run than an entire new system

And then I am CANCELING THE F#ING POLICY and putting the money into a savings account earmarked for home repairs...

I wouldn't recommend these uncaring greedy shady crooks to my worst enemy.

And don't even get me started on their plumbing contractor!
