I recently move out from my apartment, which was rented threw Elite Rentals in Killeen Texas. I was charged a $500 deposit when i moved in, when we moved out on 23 July 08 I was required to have the carpets cleaned for a total of $120. This could only be performed by 2 different companies per ELITES hand out which must be signed before inspection. I also had to get pest control threw a specific company which was $80, ALSO mandated by elite. Receipts were required on inspection day. This was all covered in the handout from elite. Me and my husband cleaned the apartment very well and was told we would receive most of our deposit back by the lady who inspected the apartment. Just last week 20 AUG I received a bill that stated i owed elite rentals another 140$ on top of my deposit. It seems like this company is taking advantage of military service members and their families That comes to a total of 940 to move out. My rent was only 595 a month. Seems pretty outlandish to me. When i contacted the chief accounting specialist at Elite she was very rude and stated that if the apartment wasn't cleaned to their standard there was a 300 dollar charge. We were never told it wasn't to standard till 1 month later. And what happened to the other $200 of the deposit? Were does the other 140 come from? Isn't it unfair for a real estate company to make you use a carpet cleaning company who charges double the price of some other local carpet cleaning companies? Isn't that the choice of a consumer? Please if you are renting in the Killeen Texas area Stay AWAY from ELITE RENTALS
