Elite Rental as been nothing but rude and unprofessional. My husband and I rented a home from them for most of 2008. He is in the United States Army and received orders for Iraq. We gave Elite a copy of the orders and a form telling them we would be moving out a little more than a month early. Elite took the orders and paper and set up a walkthrough of the property with us. They gave us a form with numbers for carpet cleaning companies as well as other service providers in the area.
On the day of our walk through we signed a form and asked for a copy to be mailed to us. The form was a detailed listing of the property and any damage that was seen. Other than normal wear and tear a long with the property being dirty, there was no major damage noted at this time. The normal home being dirty was of no problem, because we paid Elite's cleaning company to clean the place for us. That was costing us $250. We also took this time to ask the representative from Elite at the walk through to tell us if there was anything that we could be charged for. We were leaving the state and wanted to take the time to fix it ourselves, rather than run the chance of having Elite do it and having to pay a higher price.
In the state of Texas a Rental company has 30 days to notify a tenet once they have moved out about the deposit being returned. We were not notified until 2/24. This was well over the 30 days. On this day we were told that we now owed Elite $830. This was based off of charges for not getting pest control (this was our fault), as well as not using the only carpet cleaning company allowed within our lease. This was our fault, as we did not see this on the lease, however we did use a company listed on the form they had given us. Elite was nice enough to only charge us $250 for this, since the carpets were cleaned to their standards, just not by the correct company. Why it matters what company, as long as they are cleaned is beyond me.
Our deposit was for the amount of $850 and we are now being charged $830. This is because Elite is claiming that they did not receive my husband's orders for Iraq within the allowed time frame. They however did not contact us with in the allowed timeframe and seem to have no issues with this matter. I have been told by one person what was employed by Elite that part of the reason they are not admitting to receiving the first set of orders (as we have sent a second set) is due to people faking orders. This to me means that they are saying that my husband is faking orders. Believe me I almost wish we were, because than at least it would mean my husband was safe by my side and not fighting for this countries freedom and more annoyingly fighting for the people of Elite's freedom who have the audacity of accusing him of faking orders.
We also were told within the letter that water damage was being assessed and once an invoice was received we would be contacted. We have received no such invoice. However I have been told through several nasty phone calls, after uncountable messages left and being hung up on several times, that there is still no invoice, but not to worry because a professional water damage company has been to the house and believes that a fish tank has caused the damage. Too bad we did not have a fish tank. And if this so called Professional Water Damage Company has been to the house, where is the invoice from this visit?
Needless to say, I could continue on away the way I have been treated on the phone. The lack of communication on Elites part and the amount of frustration they have caused. I hope that no one else ever has to go through this.
