Kenmore Refrigerator defective construction

I bought my Kenmore refrigerator in 2002. I think it was okay for a year or two and then it started leaking water into the refrigerator compartment. The holes that let cold air come down from the freezer were draining water into the refrigerator instead of down the drain pipe to the evaporator dish under the refrigerator. When I took off the plastic part on the bottom of the freezer I could see the reason. It was frozen solid. Water had collected under the metal piece that was SUPPOSED to collect the water and send it down the metal drain hole.

The refrigerator has always been noisy, with a loud clunking sound. Now it will not cool the refrigerator because the top keeps becoming frozen. I had to chip away ice and pour hot water down the holes to get it in some semblance of working order. Meanwhile all my food went bad. The refrigerator just gets worse and worse. I have to use towels to sop up the water in the refrigerator compartment and have a bowl in there to collect some of the water that drains down so I have to continuously monitor it and empty the bowl.

Two people I know have the same problem with their Kenmore refrigerators.

I called Sears to tell them that they had a design flaw and they basically said, "tough luck." They were trying to schedule me for an appointment with their repair department. But it is the design of the metal piece in the freezer that sends water everywhere BUT down the drain hole. Why on earth would I call them to fix something they should have fixed BEFORE they sold it. One of my friends has had them out on several occasions and they do exactly what I did only they charge her a lot of money. Sears sold defective appliances and they knew it.
