We purchased Kraftmaid Taupe Glaze finished cabinets from Lowes 3 years ago. When we received the cabinets, there were several that were damaged and peeling. Kraftmaid was great to send out some replacements. We have lived in our home for 2 years, and over the last two years the finish has been peeling in a lot of places. Kraftmaid has been good to replace doors and drawers, but we have to install them, etc. It is the cabinet boxes that are the problem. We have $25,000 worth of Kraftmaid product in our home. The cabinet boxes have started peeling and we are going to be stuck either living with it, or replacing them. They have already sent us one box, but that means we would have to tear out a $1500 counter top and replace it. $3000 is a lot to spend on a bathroom vanity top. We plan on moving and feel we can't move leaving the cabinets in the shape they are in. Beware of any warranty, it is always for the product only, not for labor or anything it destroys in replacing the product. Kraftmaid also warned us that they will only replace each thing one time. So we will have to live with a $25,000 worth of crappy, peeling cabinets. When we finished our basement, I guarantee you we did not use Kraftmaid. My dad is also a builder and thank goodness he has never used them, we were the only clients he has had to ever use them. I'm glad it was us and not someone else. But, it is depressing to pay sooo much money for something (they claim to be cheaper than custom, but are NOT), only to have it fall apart.
