Singer Lazer (Laser) Storm Vacuum
Fraud Unauthorized Charges Online

Like all the other complaints listed here, I ordered the Singer LaserStorm Vacuum after seeing an infomercial. I ordered one vacuum with one free vacuum and one free steamer for three monthly payments of $39 and some cents (can't remember the cents now). The order was all placed by punching numbers on my telephone dial at the automated prompts. At the end of the call, I was informed the items were backlogged due to heavy ordering and would not ship until 4-6 weeks. I was also given a toll free telephone number to call if I wanted to check on my order.

After I hung up, I realized no one gave me any information on when my debit card would be charged for the first payment and I wanted to know what shipping charges would be so I would know exactly how much would be deducted on each of the three payments.

I was not able to speak to a live person and was, instead, given an e-mail address for customer service. I immediately sent an e-mail requesting the information. I received an automated e-mail stating a customer service rep would get in touch with me within 24 hours and how important I was to them.

When I did not receive any communication after 24 hours, I tried the telephone number again with no luck. I sent off another e-mail expressing my concerns and cancelling the order immediately (my exact phrase). I received yet another automated response but was not concerned when I never heard from anyone since I assumed they merely cancelled the order. The order was placed via telephone on Sunday, September 4. I cancelled the order via e-mail, the only means of communication with them, on Tuesday, September 6.

Imagine my surprise when I found a charge on my checking account for over $300 by Singer. This was charged on September 12 and I discovered the charge the night of September 12. I immediately contacted the number listed with the charge with no luck - I was told I needed to call during certain hours Pacific time. The next day I did just that but still got the call during times Pacific even though I was calling during those times. I then contacted my bank and began the dispute process.

I finally, after a few days, reached a live person at that number and the person was rude and hung up on me. I called back, got someone else who apologized for the other person, took my name and number supposedly to give it to a supervisor who would again supposedly call me within 24 hours because, you guessed it, I was very important to them. Needless to say, I never heard from them.

My bank gave me a provisional credit only and told me that unless they get instructions from Singer to credit me they will put back the charges. I will undoubtedly be reporting my bank to the Banking Commission at some point. I have been informed by my bank that FedEx delivered the order from Singer (who, by the way is claiming I ordered 4 vacuums) and now I have to jump through more hoops. I live in a rural area, I received no package (s) from FedEx with vacuums, there is no record of my placing an order even with Singer, and no proof of delivery on the vacuums. Yet, I am told that I will be paying for these.

Please do not buy these vacuums - this is a huge ripoff and now they are selling these under the name Wind Storm so watch out for that one.
