In mid-September, after watching their TV ad, I called and ordered 1 Singer Lazer Storm vacuum. They said that I would receive another 1 free as well as a steamer at no charge. The total charge was to be three payments of $39.95.
A woman called me the following day to confirm some information, and I told her to cancel my order. I changed my mind. She said that she had cancelled the order.
About a week later, my credit card was charged $453! I was floored. I called their 800 number and waited on hold for almost 2 hours (thank God for speakerphones...). No one answered, and the system eventually hung up on me.
Luckily, I remembered that Singer had called me. The caller-ID still had the number in it. I called and got a real person, who wanted to know why I didn't want my FOUR vacuums. I couldn't believe it. I asked why they were sending four, and they said that "A lot of people order 4 vacuums."
I told them that I wanted the shipment cancelled and my money returned immediately. They said that it was already shipped, and that I could try the vacuum (s) out when I received them.
They shipped the vacuums on September 16, by FEDEX. I got the tracking number, and tracked it (422910271132073). It showed up on September 20, in 1 small box about the size of a microwave. I refused delivery.
The FEDEX guy said that a lot of people in my neighborhood were upset with Singer and were refusing delivery also.
I tracked the package back to Singer, and they received it on September 23.
Even though the Singer people assured me that I would receive my money once they received their vacuums back, they still have not refunded my money. Today is October 7.
I lost the direct number to Singer, and can't get hold of anyone on their 800 number.
I'm filing a complaint with the Attorney General, and I urge everyone who was ripped off by Singer to do the same.
