Popeyes complaints: who to contact for orders, refunds and restaurant problems
This page was checked on 2026-10-20. Popeyes publishes a Support page at popeyes.com/support (it opened as a chat window; no phone number was shown to us there), and its FAQ page sends app, delivery and coupon problems to that page. The FAQ answers for charge or coupon problems say: "Please contact our Digital Support team for assistance here: popeyes.com/support." For a restaurant employee question the FAQ says: "Please contact your restaurant for assistance here: popeyes.com/store-locator."
Refunds on app or website orders. The Mobile Order and Payment Terms state: "Charges paid for completed orders may not be cancelled, returned, or refunded. You may be entitled to a refund, at the sole discretion of RBI or its agents, based on the individual circumstances underlying each request." The same terms say that if a delivery address cannot be served, the order is cancelled and "you will receive a refund." Keep your order number, receipt and card statement when you ask.
Food-safety or illness concerns. FoodSafety.gov says: "If you believe you or someone you know became ill from eating a certain food, contact your county or city health department." It also says to call a doctor for suspected food poisoning and 911 in an emergency.
Before you sue. The Terms of Service (last updated Nov. 27, 2024) contain a binding individual arbitration and class action waiver clause with a 30-day written opt-out window; see the FAQ below for the exact wording and the address the Terms give for notices.
Who runs Popeyes
Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen, Inc. is the name on the popeyes.com footer ("TM & © 2025 Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen, Inc."), and Restaurant Brands International's annual report for 2025 states that Popeyes and Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen are trademarks of that company. BBB lists Popeye's Louisiana Kitchen, Inc. at 5707 Blue Lagoon Dr, Miami, FL 33126-2015.
The Popeyes Terms of Service apply to the websites, apps, kiosks, gift cards and Popeyes Rewards of Restaurant Brands International, Inc. ("RBI") "regardless of who owns or operates the Services or the restaurant you ultimately visit." RBI's Form 10-K for 2025 (filed 2026-02-20) lists Popeyes as one of four RBI brands and reports 3,578 Popeyes restaurants in the U.S. and Canada and 5,413 worldwide at the end of 2025 and 2025 system-wide sales of $7,789 million; these are the company's own figures. The 10-K also says that "more than 95% of our restaurants are owned and operated by franchisees"; that sentence covers all RBI brands together, not Popeyes alone.
The company says the first Popeyes was opened by Al Copeland, Sr., in Arabi, near New Orleans, in 1972. Because most restaurants are franchised, the business that served an order, hired an employee or ran a particular store may be a separate franchisee, a point that appears in several archive complaints below. The franchisor also operates some stores: in June 2026 a bankruptcy court approved a sale of former Sailormen restaurants in which Popeyes was listed as a buyer, and TheStreet reported that these were 16 Miami-area stores (see the court record section).
Complaint record: BBB, Trustpilot and this site's archive
BBB (profile for Popeye's Louisiana Kitchen, Inc., Miami, FL), as displayed on 2026-10-20: not BBB accredited; BBB Rating F, with the listed reason "Failure to respond to 1,179 complaint(s) filed against business"; the complaints tab shows "1,192 complaints in the last 3 years. 444 complaints in the last 12 months"; the reviews tab shows "1.1 /5 stars" from an "Average of 194 Customer Reviews." BBB's raw page data gives a file-opened date of 2008-10-01. A BBB complaint is a consumer's allegation, and BBB's counts and rating cover this one profile only.
Trustpilot (popeyes.com), as displayed on 2026-10-20: 2.4 from 3,106 reviews; the profile is shown as "Unclaimed profile," and Trustpilot states "we don't fact-check reviews." Trustpilot's AI-generated summary of recent reviews says reviewers most often mention cold or dry food and missing items; we did not independently count review topics.
This site's archive links 59 approved complaints dated 2002 to 2013 (54 about Popeyes restaurants themselves and 5 that name a franchise operator or a third-party seller). They mostly describe wrong or incomplete orders, long waits, food quality, pricing or coupon disputes and, in a few, illness or hygiene concerns. Complaints here are consumers' allegations, they cover individual restaurants, and none has been verified by us. The BBB, Trustpilot and archive figures come from different sources and are not combined.
Court record and other reported events
Sanders v. Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen, Inc., U.S. District Court, Eastern District of New York, No. 1:22-cv-04477. CourtListener lists the case as filed 2022-07-29 (cause 'Diversity-Fraud') and terminated 2022-09-30. On 2022-09-30 the plaintiff filed a notice of voluntary dismissal under Rule 41(a)(1)(A)(i); the docket entry says "The claims of the putative class are dismissed without prejudice. Each party shall bear its own costs and fees," and records that the defendants had filed neither an answer nor a summary-judgment motion. The docket entries we read do not describe the claims. Allegations are not findings.
Other dockets. A CourtListener search by party name on 2026-10-20 returned many cases that name Popeyes or a Popeyes franchisee, including cases captioned with Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen, Inc. as plaintiff against other businesses and individuals' suits against Popeyes entities. We did not review them individually, so this page does not describe their subjects, and no conclusion should be drawn from their number. Several docket sites were rate-limited or blocked to us that day, so this search should be treated as incomplete.
Franchisee bankruptcy. A WAFB news report dated 2026-03-17 says Sailormen Inc., a Miami-based operator of 136 Popeyes restaurants in Florida and Georgia, filed for Chapter 11 protection on 2026-01-15 in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of Florida, citing "mounting debt of roughly $130 million," and that at least 20 restaurants had closed. The same report gives the company's balance sheet as of January 12 as assets of $232 million and liabilities of $342 million. It quotes the president of Popeyes U.S. and Canada as saying that a large majority of those restaurants are very profitable and in line with the system average; that is the company's statement. On the CourtListener docket for the case (No. 26-10451), Documents 715 to 719, all filed 2026-06-23, are orders approving the sale of substantially all of the debtor's assets, with the buyers named in the docket text as The Pulse Restaurant Group, 61 Biscuits, SBH Foods, Popeyes and RFI Ventures. TheStreet reported on 2026-07-02 that the court approved the sale of 97 restaurants for a total of $16.55 million, including 16 Miami-area stores to Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen Inc. for $9.6 million, and that the remaining 39 locations that could not be sold would close; we did not read the orders themselves, and the dollar figures are TheStreet's. The docket was still active on 2026-10-20 (last updated 2026-10-16). Yahoo Finance (Complex), dated 2026-09-26 and citing Nation's Restaurant News, reports that Sailormen is suing RFI Ventures in the bankruptcy court over $2.5 million held in escrow after RFI did not complete the purchase of 23 Orlando-area restaurants; that is Sailormen's side as reported, and we did not read the complaint. If you hold a gift card or app credit and a store has closed, use the Support page above.
RBI's 2025 Form 10-K describes legal proceedings as arising "in the ordinary course of business relating to matters including, but not limited to, disputes with franchisees, suppliers, employees, and guests." We did not identify, in the sources checked on 2026-10-20, a Popeyes-specific FTC, CFPB or state attorney general enforcement action; this is a scoped statement about those sources, not a statement that none exists.
Is Popeyes Legitimate?
Popeyes is a restaurant brand of Restaurant Brands International, a public company whose 2025 Form 10-K (filed 2026-02-20) reports 3,578 Popeyes restaurants in the U.S. and Canada. The brand's trademarks are listed as owned by Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen, Inc., which BBB lists at 5707 Blue Lagoon Dr, Miami, FL. BBB shows the business as not accredited with an F rating and 1,192 complaints in the last three years as of 2026-10-20; Trustpilot shows 2.4 from 3,106 reviews. These are third-party snapshots of consumer experience, not findings by us. Because most restaurants are franchised, service can differ by location, and the practical route for an order problem is the app Support page or the restaurant itself.

Frequently Asked Questions
Who owns Popeyes?
Restaurant Brands International lists Popeyes as one of its four brands in its 2025 Form 10-K and says Popeyes trademarks are owned by Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen, Inc. BBB lists that company at 5707 Blue Lagoon Dr, Miami, FL. The 10-K says more than 95% of RBI's restaurants across all its brands are owned and operated by franchisees.
How do I report a problem with an app or delivery order?
The Popeyes FAQ answers charge, coupon, cancellation and missing-order questions with: "Please contact our Digital Support team for assistance here: popeyes.com/support." The FAQ answer for cancelling an app order says: "We do not support canceled orders at this time. Please contact our Digital Support team if you require further assistance here: popeyes.com/support." For an order that could not be completed, the FAQ asks you to confirm that the card number and ZIP code on your profile are entered correctly, then to contact your financial institution, and then the Digital Support team. The Support page opened as a chat window when we checked on 2026-10-20 and showed no phone number. For feedback about a restaurant visit, the FAQ says: "Please scroll down for options to contact our customer support team."
Does Popeyes refund orders placed in the app?
The Mobile Order and Payment Terms say: "Charges paid for completed orders may not be cancelled, returned, or refunded. You may be entitled to a refund, at the sole discretion of RBI or its agents, based on the individual circumstances underlying each request." They also say that if an order cannot be delivered to your address "you will receive a refund," and that if delivery cannot be made at the selected time the order is discarded "and no refund will be issued" in the circumstances the terms describe. The terms also state: "RBI has no obligation to provide refunds or credits, but may grant them, in our sole discretion," and "RBI takes fraudulent behavior seriously and has filters in place to monitor your orders and, where applicable, refund requests." Read the full terms for the conditions.
Do the Popeyes terms require arbitration?
The Terms of Service (last updated Nov. 27, 2024) say you and RBI "will resolve any disputes between us in binding, individual arbitration, and not in court," and that you give up the right to a jury and to participate in class actions. Section 13 also gives "Your 30-Day Right to Opt Out" by written notice "to the address for RBI specified above," which the Terms give for notices of dispute as Restaurant Brands International US Services LLC, Attn: Legal, 5707 Blue Lagoon Drive, Miami, Florida 33126 (the Terms list a separate "Attn: Legal (DMCA Copyright Infringement)" line for copyright notices). The notice must include your name, mailing address and the email address associated with your account, and the Terms say it must be "POSTMARKED OR DEPOSITED WITHIN 30 DAYS OF THE DATE ON WHICH YOU FIRST ACCEPTED THESE TERMS UNLESS A LONGER PERIOD IS REQUIRED BY APPLICABLE LAW." The Terms also say: "Only the following Disputes are exempt from the arbitration requirement: (1) complaints you wish to make to a government agency; (2) small claims court actions (as discussed below); (3) claims related to intellectual property infringement," followed by three further items. Read the Terms for the full text.
What do BBB and Trustpilot show for Popeyes?
As displayed on 2026-10-20, BBB shows Popeye's Louisiana Kitchen, Inc. as not accredited with an F rating, 1,192 complaints in the last 3 years and 444 in the last 12 months, and a 1.1 out of 5 average from 194 customer reviews. Trustpilot shows 2.4 from 3,106 reviews on an unclaimed profile. See the complaint record section for details.
Is my local Popeyes owned by the company or a franchisee?
RBI's 2025 Form 10-K says more than 95% of its restaurants across all brands are owned and operated by franchisees. It does not give a Popeyes-only percentage in the text we read. For a specific store, ask the restaurant; the Popeyes FAQ also refers employee questions to the individual restaurant. Some stores are run by the company: the Sailormen bankruptcy docket lists Popeyes as one of the buyers of former franchisee restaurants (June 2026), and TheStreet reported that 16 Miami-area stores went to Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen Inc.
What happened with the Sailormen Popeyes restaurants?
A WAFB news report dated 2026-03-17 says Sailormen Inc., which operated 136 Popeyes restaurants in Florida and Georgia, filed for Chapter 11 protection on 2026-01-15 and that at least 20 restaurants had closed; it reports about $130 million of debt and, as of January 12, assets of $232 million against liabilities of $342 million. On 2026-06-23 the bankruptcy court entered orders approving the sale of the debtor's assets to several buyers, one of them listed as Popeyes (CourtListener docket 26-10451, Documents 715 to 719). TheStreet reported on 2026-07-02 that 97 restaurants were sold, including 16 Miami-area stores to Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen Inc., and that the remaining 39 would close. We did not read the orders; the dollar figures are TheStreet's. A later dispute between Sailormen and a buyer, RFI Ventures, over escrow money was reported on 2026-09-26 and is Sailormen's side as reported.
Where do I report food poisoning from a Popeyes restaurant?
FoodSafety.gov says: "If you believe you or someone you know became ill from eating a certain food, contact your county or city health department." It also advises calling your doctor for suspected food poisoning and 911 in an emergency.
Has Popeyes been sued by customers?
CourtListener lists Sanders v. Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen, Inc. (E.D.N.Y. No. 1:22-cv-04477), a putative class action filed 2022-07-29 and voluntarily dismissed without prejudice on 2022-09-30. A party-name search on 2026-10-20 returned other dockets naming Popeyes entities that we did not review, so this answer is not a complete list.
