I went to buy a car that was advertised, a celica at a certain price. So when I went with my mother we looked at the cars test drove the Celica we were interested in and then they said they would run a credit check (I was a student at the time in college with apart-time job) so my mom co-signed. We agreed on the Celica and then I gave them a deposit and got a receipt $1000.00. Later in the week I got a phone call saying that my car was ready for pick up. I went to the dealership and they told me that I was not eligible for the Celica and they had suitable cars. They told me that tese used cars were just as good as the new Celica I wanted and they kept me from leaving because I asked for my deposit back and they kept saying we'll get it, then they offered me lunch, coffee, and offered other cars to test drive. Finally, after about 5 hours of this I decided on a different car than what I was promised and what I orginally wanted. The car was a stck-shift, which I still don't know how to drive and never did. Two dealers followed me to my home were my mother had come home from a hard days work and was taking a nap, and they sat in our living room while my mother signed the papers that they had baggered me to sign. Not only could I barely drive the car but the motor was making a funny grinding sound and the tail pipe started making popping noises with some smoke. I sent the car back withn 2 busisiness days by towing company and they called me incessantly with threats and saying they did not want the car and I could not give it back. We ignored them and finally the bank called we let them know that we returned the car and they insisted that we pay them for the full amount of the car. They served up court papers and we got a lawyer and filed chapter 13. What a way for me to start out with my first car buying experience. It's too late to help me but I hope someone else can avoid being to naive.
