Toyota of arlington, tx lied about so many things! Don't ever buy a car from them.
I was just looking for a slightly used car, so I went online and went to vandergrifftoyota.com. It's so close to where I live.
I printed up 5 cars I found online that were perfect for me.
I took them up to the car dealership and was introduced to "Josh", who would not give me a card or last name.
I showed him the print up of the 5 cars and let him know I would like to test drive and/or look at these. Thank God I left a copy of these at home, because he took it and said these were all gone, but had some just like it.
I was suprised all 5 were sold.
I looked at several, drove 2. I knew in my mind I would probably get a Toyota Camry, which I did.
We sat down and he got my car to evalute it for a trade in, and he started working on numbers. I let him know I would need a copy of the CarFax History Report and I would also have to see a copy of the Kelly Blue Book.
He said no problem and went to go retrieve them. He returned with only the CarFax report and said they were working on the other. But he also came with a lower offer. I said it was still too high and I would have to see the Kelly Blue Book. He left again and his manager, Tony came over. He went into some big story about how they do not use the Kelly Blue Book, only CA uses it. And they use a different source and he would not bring me the Kelly Blue Book.
He lowered it again, 2 more times and gave me more for my trade in and so I took the offer.
I only test drove the car once and the inside was in really good condition, I had noticed some little scratches on the car, where the key hole is, but I really had not had the chance to do a complete walk around the car.
I told Josh I needed to do that, and he mumble something and walked off.
My credit score is 750, so it took them about an hour before they got the interest rate low enough to where I would accept the loan.
By this time it was dark, it was 7:30 PM.
We signed papers and they took me to the car.
When I got home I looked at the Kelly Blue Book and it was only worth $13,200, I paid $13,700, with a 2500 trade in for my car.
I also found my copy of the 5 cars I wanted to look at and there it was, the Camry I purchased that Josh said was no longer available!!!
The next morning I went out to the car and there were small scratches all over the car, of which THEY DID NOT DISCLOSE!
I called the Corp. Office in AZ and they listened to my case, she asked me what I wanted from them and I said I wanted a better price for the car because of all the scratches.
She said she was going to fax or e-mail the information to Bob Elly, but that I needed to call right now also. Because I told her I was going back up there this morning at 9:00AM.
I called him direct and he said he would talk to the used car manager and I could go up there at 9:30 AM.
When I got there, he would not talk to me.
I waited an hour before someone would come over.
I confronted the Manager about the Kelly Blue Book issue, he told me that I was lying, that they would have given it to me. He also told me this was a Limited Edtion Camry, I said no it was not or your website would have stated that, and it would be on the car. I also confonted him about the printed page of 5 cars I wanted to look at, that Josh told me were longer there and they were. He said nothing. HOW UNETHICAL IS THIS???
He went and printed up a Kelly Blue Book, but added features it did not have, I asked him about this and denied he was dishonest about it.
Then he started yelling at me and told me the car is sold and I could do nothing about it, I had no protection.
I told him about the scratches several times and he would not ackowlege me, until I said it for the third time.
We went and looked at the scratches, he acutally stood there and said these were not scratches all over the hood and trunk and other areas.
I got a lawyer today. I will not be ripped off.
