They will quote you the cheapest price and quickest repare time.
Once they have your vehicle, they won't return your call, call you to give you updates, or call you until the repair is finished.
They take much longer than the time they quote you.
In 2007 I took a 1991 Mercury Tracer to them for a transmission overhaul. It was an automatic, 1.9 engine, 4 door with air. I drove it to them with all gears working but the transmission was slipping.
I had to go back to their shop in another vehicle just to get an answer after two weeks on how long it would take to finish it. They finished it three days later. When I picked it up, it cost $1,400.00. It wouldn't shift out of second gear. They kept it two more days and adjusted the transmission. After that it shifted clunky.
I took it to someone else and they smoothed out the shifting.
On June 28 if started pouring fluid out between the "torque converter" and the transmission. I took it back to "Transmission Service Inc" and gave them a chance to make it right. The son told me that he would check it out. I told him that I couldn't afford another $1,400.00 for another overhaul. He said he'd check it out and give me a call, but could probably keep the cost to $375.00 to $400.00 if it was what he thought, and he thought it was just the front seal to the transmission. I told him to check it out and give me a call so I could prepare my budget, and if it needed another overhaul I might not fix it. He didn't call. Two weeks later I called and he said it'd be ready tomorrow and the repair would cost a little over $400.00. I asked him if he'd checked it, and he said yes. I paid him and drove off. It wouldn't shift into overdrive. I took it back and showed the owner. He said that third gear was burned out, that it was shifting from second to overdrive. I said no, that it wouldn;t shift into overdrive. I told him that at 55 mph it should be running 2100 rpms to 2300 rpms. It was running 4500 rpms at 55 mph. He disagreed. I showed him the Dealers shop manual stating what I had said. He demanded that I leave, and told me that he only warrantied it not to leak for 90 days.
I left and took it to another repair man. The Second repair man told me after I explained what had happened, that it was probably just a minor adjustment that needed doing. But he said he wouldn't touch it until the other repair shop's warranty had run out.
Now I'm out $400.00 with a car for my mother that is too expensive in gas usage because it won't shift into overdrive.
I could sue, but that would cost me more than the repair, and money is tight.
Bottom line: DON'T USE "TRANSMISSION SERVICE, INC". They'll WASTE your TIME and your MONEY. They can't adjust a transmisson, they're incompetent and they just don't care.
