I rented a truck recently from U-Haul to move from Buffalo, Mn to Chanhassen, Mn and the quality of the service was just terrible! Things went fine until it was time to return the truck. Not being familiar with the Chanhassen/Shakopee/Chaska area, I called the number I was directed to on the rental contract for finding drop off locations. I was given directions to a location in Chaska and told it was the only place nearby. Well we followed the directions completely and they kept taking us further out away from the local cities and they did NOT take us into Chaska! On this night it was snowing very heavily, and the roads were becoming terrible. Calling the number back it was by now after hours and the phone was not being answered and there was no after hours number available. Finally we called U-Hauls so called road side "assistance" number and reached an out of state U-Haul operator who directed us back to the first number and upon telling them it was not answering were quite curtly told our options were to either call back during business hours (causing us to owe U-Haul for another additional day) or (I quote) "Try to find one yourself!.." I was so appalled and disappointed by their complete lack of professionalism and courtesy that though this was my first time renting a U-Haul truck, I will NEVER EVER EVER go back to U-Haul for anything again! The whole thing made it one of the worst examples of "customer service" I have ever seen in my whole life!
