German Motor Works
Great and Timely Service is NOT this company's motto. 4 months still no vehicle just broken promises and lies

My vehicle was delivered to German Motor Works in March (mid month). Andrew Gharibian, the owner and master BMW mechanic, diagnosed the problem with the engine since the timing chain had broken that the vehicle needed a new engine. This diagnosis was given to me on April 4th.

A week later the new engine was purchased for $2600.00 on my credit card. He promised it would be done in a week. A week later he said he has been overwhelmed and that replacing an engine in BMW 540i is delicate and has to be done with precision and no interruptions, not to mention he basically needed more time. The broken promiseS continued until this month now July (4 months later).

At the beginning of this month his father who works in the shop as well told me over the phone that Andrew was afraid to finish my car due to the fact that the last 6 customers have come to the shop with the police to take their car and not pay for the service. I'm not sure what would make him think that of me since I have been a customer for 3 years.

I decided to go in person to discuss the issue with Andrew; however he was not at the shop upon my arrival. His father answered the door and we discuss what he told me over the phone. I explained the rightfully I could come to the shop and take the car without paying since it was just about 4 months and still I had no car. He took me to look at the car and my old engine and new purchased engine were sitting under the car neither installed. He guaranteed that he would have Andrew finish my car that week. July 4th weekend comes still no vehicle. I called the shop and no answer.

Another week goes by of me leaving messages and finally Andrew calls me on Monday, July 14th, and says I can pick my car up on Wednesday, July 16th, at 12:00 noon. On Wednesday morning Andrew calls me as says it's not ready to come later that evening about 6:00 PM. I go to the shop to pick up the car and he didn't answer the back door, but comes from the front of the building to explain that he needs another part and the part shop he went to didn't have it and he need to go to Chapman BMW in Scottsdale, AZ for the part.

He then proceeded to say that I can take a Gold 1985 BMW that runs well home and that he will bring me my car in the morning. He explained that he had to go to court and would bring the vehicle to me Thursday, July 17th my noon. On Thursday I didn't hear from Andrew. I called German Motor works and his father said that Andrew took the Bentley that he is working on for a test drive and got stranded on the highway since 9 AM that morning, but that he would tell him to call me when he got back in the shop.

Friday, July 18th, I called the shop still no answer. I left the message that I was going to the shop on my lunch break at 12:00 noon to switch vehicles. Andrew called back and said he wanted to detail my car and that we can switch later that evening. Again, no phone call. Saturday, July 19th, morning I call the shop, which is normally closed, all day and Andrew's cell phone still no answer. I decided to go to the shop.

I got there about 5:00 PM and rang the doorbell his car was outside. He came out and said he just had to finish up the little detail work and to come back in an hour. He began to say that I also need 2 new tires and that he would put some on there in his shop because I wouldn't make it home. I replied I just want my car. He said to come back in 1 hour. I left and came back in 45 minutes rang the doorbell and no answer. I assumed he may be on a test drive with my car.

At 6:15 PM he still was not there. I called the shop and his cell phone no answer. I rang the doorbell again thinking maybe he was in there and couldn't hear me, still no answer. I asked some guys that were outside at the carwash when I first came at 5 PM did they see him leave and they said they didn't see him leave. Again, I rang the doorbell no answer. I called my father to explain what was happening and he instructed me to call the police.

I called Scottsdale Police Dept. At about 6:30 PM to find out what I could do to get my car. They explained it was a civil matter, but an officer that had been to the establishment before on a similar issue heard the conversation and said he would come over to talk to me in person and find out what was actually happening. I explained everything listed above and he checked the vehicle I was in and Andrew's car parked outside to verify if they were stolen.

The officer proceeded to knock on the door and ring the doorbell and still no answer. Officer J. Haines, #1240 advise me to file a complaint with BBB, but that they can't log an incident ticket since it was civil not criminal. He gave a service number on may call of #0719080458 in case BBB wants to contact them. He mentioned numerous incidents with German Motor Works just like this one. Now it is 8:32 PM on Saturday, July 19 and I still have no vehicle. Frustrated, Mad, Crazy, Carless, Struggling, Needing HELP!!!
