West Bend Russ Darrow Toyota's service manager (John lausten) ripped me off

The check engine light recently came on in my Toyota van so I took it to Auto Zone where they will hook-up a OBD II diagnostic reader to it for free.

They told me the code P1155 came up which is Air fuel sensor heater circuit (bank #2 sensor # 1).

So I called Russ Darrow Toyota in West Bend, WI and spoke to service manager John Lausten.

I told him that I took my van to a auto parts store that hooked a reader up to it and code P1155 came up, he said there is no such code and I should probably bring the van in and have them do a diagnostics test on it.

I then made a appointment with him to have the test done.

When I dropped the van off I told him to call me when he knew what was wrong and not do any repairs till he gave me a price and I o. K'd it.

He called me after several hours and told me my van needed a air fuel sensor and the cost would be $ 411.09 (this sensor is right under the hood in front and easy to access, just un-plug 1 electrical connector and unscrew the sensor then screw the new sensor in and re-connect the electrical connector)

What a rip-off

He then proceeded to tell me I should have my timing belt replaced because they wear out after 100,000 miles. This he said would cost $ 349.95.

I said to forget the repairs and I would be back for the van.

When I picked up the van I said since I paid for the diagnostics test I would like him to write down the code that came up when they did their test, he did and to my surprise he wrote down P1155 which is the same code Auto Zone told me for FREE.

I told him he had lied to me on the phone when he told me there was no such code and that he ripped me off $ 94.99 for a test that gave the same code result as I got for free from Auto Zone.

He told me I gave him a different code over the phone, to which I replied no way I read it off the paper I got from Auto Zone.

I told him I was not happy and this would not be the last he heard from me.

I would not recommend that anybody take their vehicle there for repairs because they employ dishonest people and are ripoffs.
