On 3-15-08 I brought my car in for a tire repair while there I decided to get a lube and oil change. The tire fix went fine. Then during the oil change things went wrong. The tech did not know how to lube the undercarriage and I had to instruct him how to use the tools. "grease gun" also had to show him where the grease fittings were located. Then he dented the driver's door by slamming the door into the lift post. Pep Boys did pay for the repair of my door. The real problem is on 3-19 the Jimmy developed a knock and I check the oil. It was down 2.5 quarts, by then it as too late this is NOT POSSIBLE with a new oil change. My engine is now trashed and must be replace. I have called Pep Boys customer service and they have not returned my call. I have also had to rent a car while mine is out of service.in good faith I went to a reputable repair place and they have broken my transportation, I am very mad. We have always dealt with pepboys, for tires, batteries, and service. And been satisfied with the services provided. It all started with my telling the man at the desk that the lube tech had not greased the vehicle. He was called over and asked about it. And his reply was." I never have with any other oil change. The teck, or supervisor asked him what he thought the meaning of lube oil filter was. And he did not know. Next he did not upon lowering the vehicle check and other. Not the coolant, or the windshield washer fluid. Not the power steering fluid. Not the air filter or any thing else under the hood. He also did not put and oil change due sticker on the vehicle. I was just so disgusted when I left the store. When I noticed there was not a sticker for when the next lube job was due. We turned around and drove all the way back to the store and got the sticker handed to my wife who went out and put it on the windshield herself.
Admittedly the car is a higher mileage vehicle. But has always been kept up. It is a 1999 gmc jimmy. And has had the oil changed at three thousand mile intervals. Has never smoked nor burnt a drop of oil between changes. So now it either to be rebuilt or replaced. And I am paying 500.00 a month for a rent a car so my wife can get to work. I am handicapped so do not work. But still need my car in operating condition to get to physical therapy three times a week. Regardless. Regardless the damage was caused by a completely inept. Pepboys employee. Or I would be willing to bet, that this was the first l.O. F that he has ever done. And if that is the case, why wasn't he supervised with the knowledge to instruct him. I know he was written up for this whole situation. But I feel for certain that the engine damage was caused by this tech's ignorance.
Please get back to me as soon as possible to arrange to have my vehicle repaired. As I do not want a rent a car, I want my car. And the expense is growing by the day
