National Auto Warranty 50 Centre On The LK Lake Saint Louis, MO 63367 636-625-2552 is using phone solicitors to intimidation money out of the local elderly.
They have called both sets of my elderly grandparents in the Wichita Falls, TX. They each considered the offer, which was a bumper-to-bumper for around $3,000 a year.
The first set said the solicitor was verbally pushy and called often. They were disturbed when they declined the offer and the solicitor was openly rude.
The following month, they called my other set of grandparents. My grandmother was alone when she received their last call. Being polite, when they told her not to hang up she didn't.in fact, even though she was in tears, they continued to press her to purchase their service.in her state of confusion, they managed to get her bank account information.
At no point should a company be willing to coerce an elderly person to the point of crying to make a sale.
National Auto Warranty was contacted and told to return the $250 taken from her account. The money was returned the next day. Our bank was helpful in getting specifics about the company (name & phone).
I called the Better Business Bureau who said they currently have 435 claims against them. No claim was filed in this case since I was not seeking financial restitution. Then, I contacted the Federal Trade Commission (877-382-4357). They watch for trends like this and intervene, when necessary.
This seems to be a real company, not a fly-by-night scam, but their business practices are unethical. If you know of this happening in your area, please report it!!
