I am 4 months past my 5 year of my so called 5/10 year warranty. My wife was driving down the freeway and the car died. Towed to Kia and even though my car was only at 55K the timing belt broke and destroyed the engine. The funny things with the morons on here that chastise the owners with comments like 60,000 miles, you should replace it man or should have read your manual, its funny because it wouldnt even matter. The two dealerships that I contacted told me that no matter when the timing belt goes even if it is within 10,000 miles, that is your fault and you have no warranty on that. All Kias have what is called interference engines.
When asking the repair dept about that I said, is that so that you have to pay through the nose when the $40 part breaks? And he said Yes then started to back pedal because he knew how true it was. If you own one of these cars and you are approaching 40K I would sell it fast. If you only have 40K and you are over 5 years, put a sock in the tank and blow it up. Biggest waste of money ever thanks Korea, your products are horrible, and hopefully your nuclear reactors are built with the same care and craftsmanship. (And yes I know it was made in S. Korea, but for real it wouldnt make a difference either way)
