My wife's car was towed on a friday night and the only thing I had was a business card that stated "Lot Open: M-F 7-5" so I thought that I had to wait until Monday to get it. That was my 2nd mistake (my first was having Henry's tow it in the first place but thats another story!).
So, I called Monday morning to see how much it would be and the person over the phone said $150 for towing and $50 for the two days of storage, Ok thats 150 100=$250.
I get there and is given a bill for $425.00 - 3 days of storage and $125 for an "administrative fee?" I told them I was given a price of 250. They said I didn't talk to anybody - Hmm that's funny because when I walked in the guy at the desk knew I was looking for a Honda before I said anything!
I asked what the "administrative fee" was all about - they responded - "Its for the paperwork" What paperwork??!! They towed a freakin car not wrote a novel. They also said they were open all weekend so I could have gotten the car out anytime. I was pissed at this point so I paid and took the car.
After I got home, I immediately called the state police to report the fraud. The officer told me to come and see him. I did. He called Henry's and told them they couldn't be handed out fraudulent business cards and overcharging people for ridiculous fees. He was able to resolve the issue and got me my $175 back.
I think its time people quit letting tow companies rip them off, they are right up there with the lawyers. We could probably do something about it if every politician in this country wasn't a prostitute to special interest groups, i.E. The towing companies themselves.
The morale of the story is this: Don't get your car towed by an obnoxious red-neck towing company!
