On 8/26/06 I visited my local Ford Dealer, Family Ford in Waterbury Connecticut. I had purchased my previous vehicle there and the salespeople were professional and courteous. I was lured in by the 0% 72 month financing that was offered. I met with a salesman and the sales manager and we located a vehicle that I liked and negotiated a price.
I returned on 9/2/06, signed the papers and put down a deposit. I was told I could pick the truck up on 9/5/06 at 6PM. At 4PM on the 5th, I received a call from the salesman telling me that he couldn't locate the color choice I made but he had many other choices. I told him I would be there at 6 as planned and pick the truck and color I wanted.
When I arrived at the dealer the salesman was not there. The manager took over and told me I would have to take one of he trucks he had on his lot. The truck he had did not have any of the equipment I was promised, had the wrong size wheelbase, and was nothing close to the truck I was promised. The manager made me wait at the dealer another hour while he said he would locate a truck comparable to the one we negotiated a price on.
I returned at 8:15 and was made to wait until the dealership closed, 9:10 PM. The manager called me over and told me that if I didn't take a truck off his lot I would lose the 0% financing.
This manager pulled a bait and switch scam on me. He had no intention of selling me the vehicle he promised and we negotiated over. As a result I can no longer take advantage of the financing offer that made this truck desirable. At a purchase price of $39,600 I can't believe I was subjected to this type of treatment. The managers parting words to me when I argued that we had made a deal that he would not honor was to talk to my attorney.
