I leased a 2001 Ford F-150 from Paul Harvey Ford. When my lease was up I went to turn it in (with Ford you have to turn it in to the dealership you purchased it at) the manager took my keys and went and looked over my vehicle. The truck had a dent in the rear of the bed, we had brought an estimate from a body shop in with us, so they would know how much to charge. The manager came in and told us that he could not let us return the truck. I told him my lease was up and I was not taking it home with me. He threw the keys at me and had a salesperson put my plate back on the truck. He told me that I would have to come back before five so their body shop could do an estimate on the truck.
By now I was very upset we live an hour away from the dealership, I asked if we could just leave the truck there have the body shop do the estimate the next morning and they could fax me the condition report and i would sign it, he refused. So I took the truck back home and called the dealership the next day to set up an appointment with the body shop, just so happens they don't even have a body shop.
So I called Ford Motor Credit and told them what had happened, they said that the dealership should have kept the truck because once my lease is over it is no longer my truck. They told me that i should take it back to the dealership and if I had any problems I could call them and they would help me out. I told Ford that I would not be able to take the truck back for a week or two because I work at a dealership and would not be able to get a day off for a while, they said OK.
So three days later I was at work and we were having a big anniversary sale, a tow truck shows up on the lot looking for me. I asked him what he needed and he said he needed the keys to the truck, he had to pick it up I told him the keys were at my house were the truck was parked and I would not be able to get for him. So he picked up my truck.
I called Ford again and they said that they had to repo it because I didn't turn the truck in. I was very angry I called and made a complaint to Ford and they said they could record my complaint but there was nothing they could do about it. I called a lawyer and told him the situation he told me that there was nothing he could do.
I now have a repo on my credit, I had to file bankruptcy because of this. The sad part is that was the third truck I had bought off of paul harvey ford. I had also sent a lot of customers to them.
