On 12/13, I went to A&S Auto Service in Woodbridge Virginia. All that I needed was a simple front brake job. There were no other problems with the car! This is documented prior to my arrival at A&S!
Instead of merely replacing the FRONT BRAKE pads as they were told to do, the mechanic removed only the back brake pads and said that I needed the back brakes replaced as well.
There was no reason to remove the back tires or to inspect the rear brakes!
What should have cost me $69.99 for the frnot brake special ended up costing me $220.00 for both front and back brake pads, labor and for resurfacing both front and back rotors!
As I left the shop after the work was done, I heard a dragging noise in the front when I applied the brakes.
I was no more than 50 feet from the shop when I pulled over and called A&S Auto Service.
I was told the following:
Sometimes the brake pads need to adjust by themselves! Drive the car for three or four days and if its still making the same noise, bring it back and I'll take a look at it!".
I returned on 12/17 with the car making a worse noise.
Upon inspection, the mechanic then tells me that one rotor is warped and the brake caliper is leaking brake fluid and they both need to be replaced and he'd be happy to give me a price on it!
I know for sure someone is going to be paying for the repairs on my car. It isn't going to be me.
Thankfully, the bill was paid with a charge card.
I followed company rules and have tried everything to clear up the matter.
A&S only comment is they did nothing wrong!
I should get a refund to my charge card as A&S cheated me.
A&S is taking the position that their mechanic did nothing wrong.
If that is the case:
If in fact the rotors were resurfaced on the 13th as I was charged for, the mechanic, unless he's a blind idiot would have noticed the warped rotor then!
Had the rotors been resurfaced on the 13th, they wouldn't need to be resurfaced on the 17th!
Had the mechanic did a full brake inspection and not merely removed the back brake pads, he would have noticed the leaking brake caliper.
Not refsurfacing the rotors on the 13th would have led to the dragging sound I heard as soon as I pulled away.
Had the brake pads been improperly replaced and the calipers NOT handled properly, the end result would be the caliper closing improperly on the rotor causing it to WARP! And the CALIPER to LEAK!
I dropped off several letters asking for the manager or the owner to contact me to discuss the matter! All attempts to try and correct the situation were ignored by the manager and owner.
I just talked to the owner prior to my filing this report and like all conversations I have of a business nature, I recorded the entire conversation. This and several other recorded conversations dealing with A&S will prove invaluable in the upcoming Civil Suit against A&S!
Up until the problem with A&S, I never judged a book by its cover.
A&S sits on Jeff Davis Highway in Woodbridge. Its an old looking building and sort of trashy looking.
When I saw the rat hole that is A&S Auto Service, I should have kept going.
The cretin that I spoke to was a rude person. I have hired several people to picket this business and will continue handing out fliers warning people not to do business with them.
I've found several other people who've had problems with A&S and there seems to be a pattern of other than professional behavior on their part.
But remember.
If you're in woodrbidge virginia or anywhere in virginia and need anything repaired on your vehicle.
Dooon't go to a&s auto service!
They ripped me off and now they think i won"t take them to court!
How wrong they are. I'm just wondering if they took advantage of me because I'm a white male and an American.
And more than a few people seem to think that if you're a white American man or woman that you don't have any rights.
And there are more than a few people either not citizens or naturalized citizens who seem to think they can cheat any white American they can!
See you in court. OH by the way. While I was waitng for these assh&s to fix my car the second time, a customer came into the office wanting a price on fixing
part of his exhaust. Unknown to the person at A&S was the fact that the customer had called a parts supplier and gotten prices on the parts.
The A&S yahoo called his parts supplier and then quoted the person a price almost 1 and a half times more than the customer had been quoted for the same part.
I intend to photograph every car stopping at A&S and post the pictures showing the car tag number. Hopefully, others will see the tag numbers and amy know the person and contact them and warn them about A&S.
A&S will have no ther choice but to fix the cars right the first time when they see every vehicle coming in is photographed.
Also, I'll photograph the owner, his vehicle as well as all their mechancis picture and vehicles.
I'm getting my friends to post notices in their churches, offices and they always send the warning about A&S to their friends online.
People all over the world now know NOT TO do business with A&S.
I'm going to check to make sure that all their mechanics are ASE Certified!
I'll contact the newspapers and tell them the story and see if they won't come out and take some pictures or even do a news story on my problem with A&S Auto Service!
I'll start picketing A&S Auto Service with several friends either tomorrow or the next day. We're trying to get one or more of the Consumer Reporters in the area to come out!
