I went in to Brake Masters for a check of my girlfriends brake pads and for them to possibly replace them. I expected the price which they quoted online which as 89.99 for both front and rear pads as well as machining the rotors if needed. When they returned with the estimate i was astounded at a price of 1100.00. They stated all four rotors were bad as well as all four break pads, and to top it off they stated both the rear calipers for the brake system were FROZEN.
Now im not and ASE certified mechanic but have been working on cars for years and have changed many brake pads as well as rotors. The car they inspected was an 04 mazda 6 and has had the front pads replaced once already. After being yelled at for not fixing the car that instant I proceeded to a small family owned company and had the same thing checked. They stated the front rotors were not bad but would need to be replaced within a year and that the front pads had 55% left.
They also stated the rear rotors were perfectly fine and pads were at 75% and the read calipers for the car were in great working condition. Just to prove a point I proceeded to take the car to two (2) other places and recieved the same report as when i took the car to the small family owned store. I was utterly disgusted with the way things were handled at Brake Masters. Oh and to top it all off Brake Masters manager said he would take 40.00 off because " At Brake Masters we always have a deal". I would never recommend Brake Masters to anyone and would never give them bussiness.
