We rented a truck for a move on Long Island, and we were given a quote of $169.45. It was not explained that there was a much cheaper way of renting the truck, one-way vs. Round-trip. Our mileage was not considered in our quote, and our final price was $869.00 for a one day move.
With a proper explanation of the $2.99/mile surcharge prior to renting the truck, it would have been made clear that our rental would not cost the estimated $169.00 but would be closer to $900.
After we returned the truck, the unhelpful service person said it would have been much cheaper to rent it one-way. Too little help, too late. To add insult to injury, the truck did not start on the second day, and we ended up waiting and waiting on hold for someone to take our call. Frustrated, we called a local guy to jump the U-Haul truck, which added an additional $40 to our bill.
No one responded to our email, and we did not receive any help over the phone.
