We had to rent trucks to move things for an estate. We rented twice from U-haul. We rented in Mesa during the week. The $19.95 truck (pretty much junk) cost us about $90. We had it back before 24 hours (couldn't bring it back when we were done), drove less than 50 miles, filled gas. The help was rude to put it mildly.
My son rented the second truck in Phoenix so I don't know what it cost. The truck was not there when he went to pick it up so we started several hours late. This truck was a REAL piece of junk. The lights didn't work. This wouldn't have been as important if it had been there when reserved. Still pretty tacky though. We wondered how many pieces of the truck we left around Phoexix and Mesa.
We had to rent another truck last month. I thought about hiring someone to do the move so we didn't have to deal with U-haul again.instead I called Penske (on Fri afternoon) for a truck on Sat. They couldn't have been better. They got a truck there for us by 8 AM on Sat. It cost $90 dollars ON A WEEKEND.
The people were helpful and courtious. The truck had a few scratches, which were noted before we left. Other than that it was nice, worked well and made for as pleasant an experience as moving things can be.
Penske has my business from now on!
