Toyota Kearny Mesa
Ripoff Fraud lies and bad customer service

I went to Toyota Kearny Mesa on the 13th of January. I had noticed when I was paying my online bill for my current Toyota, that they could lower my payments. This is just a hook, they couldn't lower my payments on the current car, but could only sell me a new one. (Sure)

Since I had a perfectly good Toyota Matrix, I wasn't that jazzed to get a new car, but if they could lower my payments and get me a new car, I thought, hey, what a deal. So after 3 hours, we signed the paperwork and they gave me the keys. Now I was excited, I had a cool new car, I couldn't wait to drive it!

My husband and I get in, I turn on the ignition and voila, the check engine light comes on. We had not left the lot. I told them they needed to fix this before I would take the car. After another half hour, they brought the car back saying it was fixed, and some bull pucky about the gas cap not being on tight enough causing the problem. Since the oxygen sensor had gone bad on my last Matrix, I figured that was the problem, but they said it was all good, so I drove it home (less than 4 miles away).

Next morning, driving to work, in less than 3 miles, the low tire pressure light comes on. Then the check engine light. I have now driven the car less than 10 miles. I called the second I sat down at my desk.

They brought me a loner car, and said they'd have the car back to me in a few hours. I was going out of town that evening, and was driving, so I was anxious to get my car back. Got a call a few hours later that the problem was the oxygen sensor and they didn't have the part. (This seemingly being a common problem one would think they would stock the part!) But the part will be in early on the 15th, and they would pop it in and get it back to me.

So I go out of town with the loner car. Saturday I get a call saying the part was still not in, but I could pick up the car on Monday the 17th, afternoon. Called back in on Sunday, to check in and they said that the part was there but not to come in till late afternoon Monday. Then I get a call on Monday saying that they felt they would replace the whole computer system. Just to make sure (liars). When I actually talked to the service manager, he said that the computer was bad.

It was horrible to have just gotten tied into another lengthy lease for a car that I hadn't even driven yet. Knowing that they have computer diagnostics available, one would think they would have immeadiatly known the problem. My belief is they did. Same with anyone who I speak with, same thing, if they ran a test on the car on Friday the 14th, they would have known the problem then. But kept stringing me along.

Now here it is, the 8th of February, I still haven't laid eyes on my car. Was told the part would be in Friday the 4th of Feb., got no call then, got one yesterday, the 7th, saying the part was now "estimated" to arrive on the 9th.

Supposedly I am on some "expidite" list. My thoughts are that if they sell you a new car it should function, they should have weeks ago given me a replacement or gotten the part locally. Or, taken it from another car. But they have excuses for that too.

Toyota of Kearny Mesa lacks any remorse or desire to make me happy. I felt that the first time I went in there on their grand opening day and they wouldn't deal with me. And were rude. I regret giving them my business and never will again. And at this point don't think I'll ever get another Toyota.

This is far beyond a little issue. I think that once they get your signature, they just couldn't care less. They just want money for defective product. And this car is defective. 24 days so far and counting...
