Despite the congressional/senatorial action AND the Federal lawsuit, the Fairbanks ripoff continues. Just this week we refinanced to get away from these people. We had the loan commitment in early June. Fairbanks gave us the first of what turned out to be six payoff amounts—the final one in the last week (Taoday is July 26th.) That cost two months of interest and god knows what else, in addition to an early payment charge of over 12K that might not even be legal in Virginia.
We had already experienced the 'lost payments' and late insurance payments that caused the suit and supposedly resulted in their agreement to 'go straight', but apparently not. They simply looked to other types of scams to keep their faltering company alive and 'in the green.'
We've started the process of getting the whole mortgage audited, and our attorney is prepared to notify the Federal Court in Boston that the agreement isn't worth the paper its written on. Others must be having the same problem.
