Every year I print out an order form from the Federal Trade Commmission's website and request my Free Annual Credit Report from each of the three credit reporting agencies. They are required by law to provide a free credit report once per year. It has been a battle all the way. One credit report cost me a job because they were reporting a false judgment against me that had already been vacated by the judge. It took almost a year for me to get that CRA to remove the wrong information.
For five years I've been sending Trans Union a request for my credit report so I can have them remove any mistakes it might contain. Every year they stall and stonewall me, asking for a bunch of proofs of identity, which I send them, and every year they refuse to send me my free annual credit report. Because I don't know what information the credit report contains, I can't fix their mistakes. The latest request I made was in December 5. TransUnion sent me back a reject notice, listing various forms of identification it wants before it can send me my credit report. I sent them the utility bill and drivers license they requested—twice.
It's now more than two months and still no credit report. Going to their website is a waste of time. I tried that years ago. Before I have time to read my whole credit report, let alone print it out, the website times me out and I can't get back in. They count that as a free credit report and you can't see another one for a year. Also tried once to order a credit report by mail. It never showed up, and the cra claimed they sent it to me. I only deal with these agencies in writing. They can't be trusted.
