This company is a joke. They sent me a letter inidicating that they had purchased debt from a Bank 1 account that I previously had through Capital One, F.S.B. Not only have I never had a Bank 1 account, I don't have a Capital One card either. The people that you speak with there are extremely rude and sound as if their education level stopped at the eighth grade. My initial letter had a very obvious grammatical error as well.
My attorney sent them a letter indicating to them this information and asked them to verify the debt. They sent a letter back to my attorney with an account number from a Bank 1 account. Upon calling the Recovery/Loss/Charged off Accounts number, Bank 1 had never heard of me either.
I have filed a claim with the Attorney General's office in Illinois (the woman at her office sighed when I told her the name of the company, and indicated to me that there were over 250 claims filed against CAMCO in the last two years alone) and am seriously considering filing a class action law suit. This company will pay for this in the long run.
