I sure am glad to have found other people in the same situation. I too had a Providian card that was cancelled for no reason and sold to Emerge. I recently ran a credit report and found, although I have not received any corespondence from Emerge in months, that I currently am over 120 days past due and owe 3 times the amount of the original credit limit.
I did however receive a call from Emerge 3 days ago, and when I returned their call, at noon today got a recording that said to call back during normal business hours. Does anyone know what their normal business hours are? I intend to contact my states AG office and if anyone knows of a class action suit I would like to participate. As a side note, I have another Providian card, issued at the same time, which is in good standing and I have never had a problem with. It appears that this may be tied to what was called the "GetSmart" card.
