I can relate to the complaints of other consumers on this site. Bank of America did the same to me with the "hard/soft"bookkeeping practices... I wound up with $130.00 in overdraft fees, and a "supposedly" closed account. I inetended to direct deposit my income taxes to that account in order to cover those charges and have faster access to the remainder.
After filing my taxes (direct deposit), I called the bank to see if refund had been recieved, only to be told the account was CLOSED. Too late to stop direct deposit, now here I sit waiting for a paper check. This was 3weeks ago, and today I get a statement on the CLOSED checking account. No wonder I wasn't aware of the account being closed since they are still sending me account statements every month...
