I noticed a $79.95 charge on my online bank statement. Since this doesn't specify what it's for I called my bank to find out what the charge was for. I was told this was charged by CIC Credit Monitor Service.
I have never authorized a $79.95 charge. I had received a free credit report probably more than a year ago but never authorized any charges. I was also told by the bank they were seeing that a lot - a $79.95 charge that people didn't authorize.
I called the company and was asked for my social security number. I gave that but they couldn't find anything on file. I was then asked for my credit card information which of course I refused to give. Then they tried to look up my information under my name but still couldn't find a record. I asked how they could charge me for a credit report service if they didn't even have my name and social on file! The girl was unable to give me an answer - she said she needed my credit card information. I then ended the call.
