This is the text of my complaint to the FTC:
On 2/26 I followed a link from MSN.com for a free credit report. Along with the information requried to look up a credit report such as social security number, they asked me for a credit card #. I entered it thinking they would use it for the report or if I ordered anything fromt he site that was not free.
I thought nothing of it until 3/19 when I received my credit card statement. There was a $24.95 charge on it. I emailed the company but they would not remove the charge unless I gave them some personal information, "for security reasons." I was becoming nervous that it was an identity theft scam, so I refused. I had forgotten about it until today when I received my next statement for the same credit card with a $79.95 fee on it!
I called my credit card company to dispute both charges, but I also wanted to file a report here and anywhere else I can...
