Fifth Third Bank Car Loan - Cincinnati Oh
Fifth Third Bank Can not account for two car payments

I have a car loan with Fifth Third Bank. I received the loan as of 2005. I have "never" missed a payment. I have been unemployed for 6 months and yes there were a few late payments but never a skipped payment. My insurance lapsed in November. Yes, my fault. I'm in SC and things have been very, very hard. I know that's no an excuse, but there's probably thousands of people driving around who doesn't have car insurance.

I received a letter from Stephens and Michaels on April 22. A collection agency stating I had a balance with Fifth Third of $ 653.18. I called and the lady replied, we will reposse your vehicle. I asked what the amount was for. Was it insurance? She stated she " didn't know".

I am still unemployed. Where could I come up with 653.18, especially since I had made 3 car payments (a gift from a relative) in March. (March, April, and May) I had contacted Fifth Third, told them I had changed insurance companies and my car did have insurance several months ago. Nothing was said about late payments, fees, etc.

I have since been in touch with the collection asking how do I owe this money and why? I sent them and Fifth Third bank my money oder receipts and went to the post office to have them traced, thinking somehow maybe these payments were lost/stolen? I contacted a local branch and she stated the money orders were posted to their account and it was probably an issue with lapsed coverage on my car. After all the headace I went through thinking over a thousand dollars was lost. I called the collection ageny back and informed them of what I had found out. They emailed the bank and told them the story. Did they care? Were they going to straighten this out? The answer is NO, and HELL NO. I had to immediately come up with 100.00 to keep from having the car in repossion (as of yesterday)
I can understand if they were adding insurance. But, why not just tell me.

Finally, the lady at our local bank informs me I received a new payment book with the insurance added. NOT!!! I started calling around to different branches getting other opinions. Ok. The second band I contacted told me you are behind on your regular payments, by 2 months. She said you have always been late on your payments. LIAR!!! I wasn't late on ANY payments until I lost my job. She was rude and told me I will need PROOF that you made ALL your payents.

Sometimes I mailed money orders, at times checks or my boyfriend used his checking account. She said I want to see every check, statement, cleared money order since 2005.

I'm getting pissed. I have gone through hell and back to try and clear this up. I called a third bank. He stated I was 3 months behind on payments and my March, April and May payments went for Dec., Jan., and Feb. He told me he would have to have COPIES of the money orders???
I don't know what to do. No one will give me a straight answer.

I've tried called the 800 number on my coupon book and the rude person would not speak to me. She told me my account is in collections and she could not advise any information.

I don't know what to do. I will have to pay the remaining amount which is $553.18 or they will come and get my car. I don't know where I stand and how to find out any information.

My next payment is due in June, but not according to them. What have they done to my account!!! Why??? If anyone has gone through this PLEASE respond. I will appreciate any information. I can't lose my car.
I do know, when it is paid off, I will NEVER bank at Fifth Third Bank again.
Very rude and will not help you.
