My wife and I retired and bought a little house. We were going along just fine until CitiMortgage purchased the note from CountryWide.
I was paying about two weeks early and having the money automatically sent from my bank, a very respectable company, USAA.
They have been maintaining for a year now that I missed a payment which my bank records show is incorrect. I double-checked my bank and they concurred with my assessment.
For over a year, I called, I wrote, I left messages, and couldn't get a human being to listen to my plight.
Finally, I decided the only way to get this straight was to refinance.
Now that the ReFi has been approved, I get a (form) letter from Citi wanting to help me with "credit counseling". Still no names attached to any correspondence.
Well, I got a 1% drop in my interest rate an get rid of CitiMortgage, so I suppose the last laugh is mine, except that they still owe me that missed payment and the fees, close to $2000.
I don't want anything from the company, I just want others to watch their statements closely when dealing with CitiMortgage.
