We usually purchase products from home depot on the no interest for 6 or 12 month plan. Occasionally we make small purchases on the card also.
In the next few weeks I have some of the no interest promotions coming due, so i called the 800 number to ensure they would not rip me off if i send in the payment. Sure enough, the customer service agent says, "for the payment to be applied to the promotional amounts you must CALL them first." You cannot mail a signed letter, you cannot go to a local store, you must call first them make a payment.
So i ask, why would any person not want their payment applied to promotional purchases as this would save you interest. The "customer service agent" said of course we are not trying to rip you off. Home depot knows that most people would just send their payment in expecting Home Depot would be intelligent, logical, honest business people. There is absolutely no reason why anyone would not want the amounts applied to promotional purchases.
Home Depot preys on people not taking the time/wasting their time to call first. What type of business tries to rip off their customers, customers who spent $37,000 at their business in the last year. Needless to say we will be canceling the account and will never purchase from there again.
