I got screwed this weekend by a WaMu (now JPMorgan Chase) ATM that I've been using for over 2 years. I do two large cash deposits each month for $350 each. The money is rent that I receive bi-monthly from my roommate, Ellen W.
This latest deposit, Sunday morning for $375, posted as a credit to my account on the 17th. On the 19th, this is what I see on my on-line banking page&

I AM LIVID. I immediately called their 1-800 and I explained to them what I had learned about the alleged missing money from the envelope. The guy didn't volunteer any info and how the money room conducts their biz.
My friend suggested that maybe someone behind me "fished" the envelope out after I left. I told this "genius", "then how did MY empty envelope get back the ATM slot without knowing my PIN and having my card?"
A supervisor on the 1-800 number told me they would have
to do their research which will take 4-5 biz days and urged me to visit the bank in the morning. I did not get that far because when I phoned the bank the next morning to make sure the General Manager would be there, my call was side-tracked the asst. Manager, Rene Parrales.
He pleaded with me to give him 4 biz days. Based on my Google research, I can only conclude that this is a routine stall tactic and that a real desire to ferret out the bank's thief is not a realistic expectation.
After the 4 days are up. I plan on going to the branch where this happened, and if I still don't get any satisfaction, I will call the cops at the busiest time of day and wait for them in from of the bank. The asst mgr appeared noncompliant of allowing me to review video tapes, logs of whom, amd most importantly, review the alleged empty envelope that they claim was NOT even opened. My personal handwriting is on the envelope and I want to scrutinized it since it's impossible for it be mine UNLESS some have the gall to reseal it. Time will tell.
