Lost payments lost by GMAC sent home in foreclosure

I am reporting this for my mom whose home just recently went into foreclosure. This may be a little late. But never hurts to try. She just recently, about two days ago received a 30 day notice that if she doesnt pay in full 4k that she will lose her home in foreclosure. GMAC is allegedly saying that my mom missed a couple of payments and that she needs to pay those along with the current rent. My mom says she has never missed a payment and has proof that all payments were made and sent off and cashed. She sent money orders to GMAC. We've made several phone calls to GMAC asking for an explanation as to what happened and exactly what months she supposedly missed and only get a "deadbeat answer".

Fter telling the peple at GMAc on the phone that we have records of all payments being made all we get is "that won't help you know". Then she gets a letter from GMAC stating that they are requesting a copy of a money order that was mailed in to them front and back that is "missing". Their words. And that it is in investigation. Only to get a letter two days later saying the home is going into foreclosure is she doesnt come up with the 4k. I have no idea what is going on. We hired a lawyer to help us but he got nothing, so we fired and him and have another meeting with him tomorrow.

Is there anything you guys might suggest I tell our new lawyer. Who to talk to at GMAC or similar cases he can look at. I do not want my mother losing her home because they lost a check. It jsut isnt right. This is in a small town of Mcgregor Tx just outside of Waco. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
