IN April I took out an equity loan and paid $1288.00 to BAnk of America paying them off. I recieved a letter from them 4/25/07 confirming and thanking me for their business. 6 months later, I got a bill from them for 1288.00. Not making the connection, I at first thought it was identity theft and reported it. I kept receiving bills with late fee's attached. I had not used their card at all. Had a 0 balance so was very confused.
I finally made the connection and realized that for some reason they had waited months to cash that check I had sent them. I called the appropriate departments and had them send me a copy of the check.
I have been told that the check had been declined and that is why it was being billed to me again. I told them that the check was only good for 90 days and apparently the time frame for whatever reason had lapsed causing the check to be declined. Why did it take 6 months to cash???
They wouldn't admit to anything or tell me anything as to why it took 6 months to cash the check.
It took 4 months to get a copy of the check I had mailed to them. Upon recieving the check I noticed that something had happened to this check. It was non-ledgable. It appeared that something had been spilled all over it. It was unreadable. I couldn't see any original writing on the check.
Again I called, and called and called. No person takes or writes notes on the computer, I get called all day long from collections. They are hurting my credit. This is their error, not mine. EAch month the bill gets higher and higher.
I have paid for this alreay through the equity company. Unfortunely this company sold to another company now and I can't get any info on the original check. I am at a loss. If anyone has any Bank of America Contacts or corporate info, I would so appreciate it.
