I recently had the misfortune of overdrafting my WellsFargo
Checking account. I thought ok they might charge me $7.50 to take care of the over charge and then I could continue on with my life once I deposited the money in there.
I overdrafted $6 and was charged $18.00.
Then I overdrafted $13 and was charged another $18.00 (I wasn't
able to make it to the bank and deposit before this charge got
cleared.). The grand total was $55.00.
I got a statment in the mail that said please come in and deposit $55.00 in order to cover the overcharge and the preceding overcharge charges. I agreed and went in to pay the bill, but at that point they informed me that the price needed to be paid was actually $110.00 (Double what I really owed and what the statement in the mail said.).
I showed them the statement and the person refused to change it,
and the person did not even give me an excuse of why it was so
much. I will be calling their corporate office to see what they
will do about this injustice.
It isn't the amount of money that they were charging me it is the principle that they can do it without any repurcussions. They have already screwed me on three seperate occasions this year, and every since they bought out Norwest they have screwed my parents over an ample amount of times.
This is aweful that any company should be able to do this and not have to explain why. It does not state in their guidelines that when you come in we will charge you, and then you will take it up the butt double time when you come in to pay it.
I am sick of these banks taking away my money.
