Just after Hurricaine Katrina hit, we were financially distressed. A friend was contacted by this company, she referred me to them. I believed their claims of being able to reduce my credit card debt in half. After research on Debt Reduction and the company, everything seemed to be on the level. I made the biggest mistake by enrolling in this program.
Oct05, I enrolled and began paying $500 per month in Nov05. I was told not to speak with creditors when called. I was told to refer them to Worldwide Financial for a response and negotiation of the debt. I signed the "Power of Attorney" and sent it to my creditors as instructed.
In 1/06, I recvd notices from Debt Collection Attorney's. I was told the company would respond and nego. With them. I was not to contact the collection agencies, it was a scare tactic. Big mistake, I was notified of Summons and Arbitration filed against me. Still, was told by the company not to contact the agencies, they are just trying to scare me. It worked.
After months of worry and dealing only with Worldwide, June'06- I was notified of a lawsuit being filed against me and the arbitration forum found against me. I owed more money than before the "debt assistance". I had to hire an attorney. He handled my pending suits.
Worldwide did not provide the services they claimed. I requested a refund due to unsettled accts. I had paid $4000 to Worldwide. I probably will not get it back.
They still tell me the accounts could have been settled. Ha, after 9 months, I doubt it. Luckily, I withdrew from their services before it was to late. My friend wasn't so lucky.
