I am currently attempting to settle a debt with Palisades by setting up a payment plan. After coming to a verbal agreement with a B* of a woman (so mean and horrible sounding!) over the telephone I asked that she give me something in writing about the company's intention to honor the agreement. She said it is not their policy to issue such letters. I told her that I do not feel comfortable with ANY verbal agreement in this day and age and I do not want to send them a dime until I know this is legitimate and they will not go back on it.
I was conveniently disconnected when she finally agreed to transfer me to a supervisor. From what I have read I don't believe I will have any better experience tomorrow when the "supervisor" finally calls me back, but I have to give it a shot. Should we be expected to pay our first mortgage payment before we get a signed copy of the agreement??? How can I feel safe just sending them money before having somethign in writing, especially after everthing I've read on this website???
